Hawai'ian Local Boys
The hawai'ian Local Boy is the product of decades of "customizing" in the Hawaiian islands, and it's their personal style. Since the first time I visited the islands I took interest in this classic style, I noticed similarities to the Puertorrican "Tuca" and the Chicano "lowriders". Like every island that is rich in heritage and folklore, the Hawaiians have many stories around the " Local Boy". In reality, the style developed out of necessity and inventive. As you can see the colors are vibrant, the chrome , the Springer front end, 19" front wheel, Triumph front fender, rear fat bob fender, tombstone light and police seat are definite traits of this style.
A couple curious details is the modified police seats, in order to have a bit more space when riding two up and the clutch lever, the hawaiians replaced the clutch lever and cable and converted the tank shift to the clutch, this simple solution to the problem of finding clutch cables in the islands.
On the photos here you will admire some straight up local boys, but also the modern turn that these guys have absorbed and used, wider tires, better brakes, etc..
These guys are family to me, and this is the finest example of their motorcycles heritage... enjoy
